The Editorial Statement

Ibom Journal of Social Issues was set up by the ‘founding fathers’ of the Department of Sociology and Anthropology, Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Uyo as a non-profit making publisher that will give wider publicity and access to researches carried out especially by social scientists, scholars in the humanities and related disciplines. It relied then on the use of print media.

However, with the passage of time, the need to leverage on technology to accomplish and even expand on the scope of what was initially conceived became expedient. Thus, the journal has been revived and upscaled to deliver on its mandate. Availability, accessibility and quality (both of the articles we publish and how they are presented) now drive our processes. This informs why manuscripts submitted to IJSI are now subjected to blind peer review. The journal is now refocused and published online quarterly. Open Access Protocols are embraced and guidelines to aid authors have been reviewed, and indexing and recognitions by known international organizations are now being sort.

It is our hope that the reinvigorated platform provided by IJSI will be utilized by scholars across the globe to publish articles that could generate scholarly interests and further discussions that will improve societal wellbeing and development.
